The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to the south west of Uganda is the main Uganda gorilla trekking safari destination with a minimum of 400 mountain gorillas among which twelve (12) gorilla families are habituated for tracking and more two are under habituation.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park feature gorilla trekking in its four gorilla regions namely Buhoma with the three families of Mubare, Habinyanja and Rushegura, Ruhija with the three families of Orozogo, Bitukura and Kyagurilo, Rushaga with five gorilla families of Nshongi, Mishaya, Bweza, Busigye and Kahungye and Nshongi with its gorilla family of Nshongi. The two new families of Bushaho and Bikingi are under habituation in the southern sector and will be added onto the families tracked by travellers on Uganda gorilla trekking safaris in Bwindi after their complete habituation
The second gorilla habitat of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park features one habituated gorilla group called Nyakagyezi presenting an alternative destination if the traveller doesnāt wish to track gorillas in Bwindi.
Most of the Uganda gorilla trekking Safaris begin and end in Kampala but they can be customised to start and end at oneās point of interest. The gorilla safaris in Uganda can range from 3 days to 4 days, 5 days up to 30 days with the shorter days suitable for those interested in gorillas only and may be a little of wildlife viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park and Lake Mburo National Park while the long days provided for extensive exploration of the Pearl of Africa ā Uganda presenting opportunities for adventure, culture, wildlife and recreational encounters.
The gorilla permit in Uganda stands at $600 for the foreign non residents, $500 for the foreign residents and 250,000/= for the East African Community Citizens. Fortunately, the country offers off season discounted gorilla permits in the months of April, May and November reducing the prices to $450 for the Foreign Non resident, $400 for the Foreign Residents and 150,000/= for the East African citizens
